USS Lexington Live-Aboard & Gulf Coast Adventure

January 12 - 15th, 2024

Location: Austin - Mustang Is. - USS Lexington

380 January campout leaving 6pm Friday; traveling to Austin to camp Friday night, Saturday a stop at Presidio La Bahia in Goliad, Texas -the only surviving example of a Spanish Colonial mission/presidio complex in Texas-, camp Saturday night on Mustang Inland - Scout time on the beach/campfire, Sunday 2pm arrival at USS LEX Live Aboard till 9am Monday, with drive home Monday (MLK holiday).

Wear Class-B or uniform when traveling. Usually weather/water is warn enough for beach and wave fun, so bring swimsuit and towel. Note: Scouts and Adults Leaders need Class-A uniform for USS LEX dinner and participating in fantastic USS Lexington flag program, aboard ship!
Scouts should bring personal camping gear including; sleeping bag & pad + sleeping clothes, durable outdoor footwear, change of outdoor clothing for season, hat, jacket, personal first aid kit, 1-qt. water bottle, red flashlight/headlight aboard ship and suggest camp stool/chair for camping.

Scouts live-aboard the USS LEXINGTON; learning firsthand about the illustrious past of USS Lexington, including Kamikaze attacks and being named the “Blue Ghost” by Tokyo Rose herself. It’s a real-life, hands-on overnight program that builds camaraderie, inspires love of country and is just plain fun! The overnight stay includes tours of the ship, a movie in the 3D MEGA Theater, two trips through the chow-line, bunking in original crew quarters, an unforgettable flag ceremony and so much more!
