Training Youth to be Leaders Today, while Experiencing Outdoor Adventures that Last a Lifetime!

Troop 380 Youth lead the Troops and do most of the Youth Training, while Trained 380 Adults support Scouting Activities.

380 Youth Leadership Roles and Responsibilities are clearly defined.

Leadership Experiences

You will find Troop 380 Scouts “At The Fore Front” in leading the Troop Meetings and Trainings. If a Scout has a question, unless it is a safety issue, Q/A should go through Scout chain of command; Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Scoutmaster, and the Scoutmaster.

Troop Guides (older Scouts) are assigned to new Scout Patrols.  Troop 380 also has youth leadership positions as Skill Instructors, such as First Aid, Maps & Compass, Knots & Lashing etc. Each 380 Youth Patrol is assigned a B.S.A. trained Adult Assistant Scoutmaster as their Patrol Advisor. Troop Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters oversee Leadership, Advancement and Safety.  Adult Troop Committee and parents support the overall Troop/Crew program. Both male and female adult trained leaders are involved. Scouts have Scoutmaster Conference(s), monthly Board of Review, plus Courts of Honor held quarterly to recognize the Scout’s Rank Advancement and Achievements. Troop 380 camping activities are planned by Patrol Leaders Counsel for a full school-year in advance with support of the Troop Committee.

Note:  In addition to school, many of Troop 380 Scouts also actively participate in various sports, church, band and other youth extracurricular activities.

Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) are the Youth Troop Leaders, elected every six months. Individual Patrols have Youth Patrol Leaders, namely Patrol Leader (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leader (APL). His/her major role is leading and communicating information to the Patrol. PL and Assistant PL are also elected every six months. Twelve youth “Troop Leadership Positions” currently  make up the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) that meets Monday and after each camp-out, to plan upcoming month activities. Troop 380 Scouts/Scouters may also have roles in B.S.A. Order of Arrow program. The O.A. (Scouting’s National Honor Society) is run by the youth with support of adults at separate O.A. Chapter and Lodge activities.
